Cookie Policy
What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise you when you return. Cookies are how a website remembers you are signed in, what you have placed in your cart, and other small pieces of state that make the service work.
OrphanGive uses cookies sparingly. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use third-party tracking pixels. We do not sell or share cookie data with marketers. This page explains what cookies we use, why, and what you can do about them.
The cookies we use
We use only essential cookies — cookies that are necessary for the service to function. These cookies are exempt from explicit consent requirements under most privacy frameworks because the service cannot operate without them.
**Authentication cookies.** When you sign in to OrphanGive, we set a cookie that identifies you as a signed-in user on subsequent requests. Without this cookie, you would need to enter your password on every single page. This cookie typically lasts for a few weeks and is renewed each time you visit. It is removed when you sign out or when it expires.
**Session cookies.** While you are using OrphanGive, certain temporary cookies hold information that needs to persist across the few seconds between page loads — for instance, what you have placed in your sponsorship cart before checking out. These cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
**Security cookies.** Some cookies are set as protective measures — to verify that form submissions come from genuine OrphanGive pages rather than from external attackers attempting to forge requests on your behalf. These cookies are essential for the security of your account and your sponsorship.
What we do not use
We do not use:
Advertising cookies: we do not show ads on OrphanGive, and we do not place cookies that track you for advertising purposes elsewhere on the web.
Third-party tracking pixels: no Facebook pixel, no Google ads conversion tracking, no LinkedIn insight tag, no other behavioural tracking technology.
Cross-site fingerprinting: we do not build a fingerprint of your browser, device, or behaviour to identify you across sessions or websites.
Analytics tied to individuals: we may use aggregate, anonymous analytics to understand how many people visit our pages and which content is most useful. We do not link this data to individual users, and any analytics we use is configured to anonymise IP addresses before processing.
Third-party services and their cookies
Some parts of OrphanGive rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies:
**Stripe.** Our payment processor. Stripe sets cookies to handle fraud detection, to remember saved payment methods within their secure system, and to provide their own checkout experience. Stripe's cookies are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
**Resend.** Our transactional email delivery partner. Resend does not set cookies in your browser through our service. Resend tracks email open rates and click rates via small tracking pixels in emails we send. If you prefer not to be tracked in our emails, configure your email client to block remote image loading.
**Cloudinary.** Our image hosting service. Cloudinary serves child photographs and other media. Cloudinary does not set behavioural cookies, but they do log standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, URL requested) for thirty days for operational and security purposes.
We do not control the privacy practices of these third parties beyond our contractual obligations with them. If you have concerns about any of their cookie practices, please refer to their own privacy policies.
Your choices
Your browser allows you to control cookies in several ways:
Block cookies entirely. You can configure your browser to reject all cookies. If you do this for OrphanGive, you will not be able to sign in, place sponsorships, or use any feature that requires identification. The site will still display its public pages.
Block third-party cookies. Most modern browsers offer an option to allow first-party cookies (set by OrphanGive itself) while blocking third-party cookies (set by Stripe and others). This will likely allow you to use most of OrphanGive but may interfere with payment processing.
Clear cookies. You can clear all cookies in your browser at any time. This will sign you out of OrphanGive and remove any cart state, but no data is lost on our side — sign in again and your sponsorships, history, and settings are all intact.
Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser. Most browsers have a "Settings" or "Preferences" menu with a "Privacy" or "Security" section that lets you control cookie behaviour.
Cookie list
For full transparency, here are the specific cookies we set:
og_session— authentication cookie, set when you sign in, expires after several weeksog_csrf— security token, set on each session, used to verify form submissionsog_cart— session cart state, deleted when you close your browserStripe sets several cookies during checkout (handled by Stripe directly)
We do not set any other cookies through our own service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy if we add or remove any cookie-using feature. The "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page will reflect any changes. For material changes — such as the introduction of a new tracking technology — we will notify active sponsors by email at least thirty days before the change takes effect.
Governing law
This cookie policy is governed by the laws of Bangladesh. Children's Heaven Trust is registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh under Registration No. iv-98/2021.
